Billie Eilish’s hit single “Bad Guy” has recently been given the dad joke treatment in a hilarious parody video created by father and YouTuber Kirk Connor (of Funk Turkey). The playful spoof comes just days after Eilish became the first artist born in the 2000s to top the Billboard Hot 100 with her original song. Connor’s “Dad Guy” version might not make the charts, but it’s certainly gaining popularity online.
Now with over 1 million views, the funny parody has gone viral. It’s so popular in fact, that Connor was recently invited to come on Today Extra, an Australian morning talk show. “The reason why I made this was out of the pure silliness of being a parent.” Conner says in during the interview. “My wife and I text dad jokes back and forth to each other and we started poking fun at the song… It took a life of its own.”
From feeding his kids to doing menial tasks, Connor offers a hilarious twist on Eilish’s famous song. The doting dad claims it only took him 5 minutes to write the lyrics, which shows just how quick-witted and naturally funny he really is. At one point during Dad Guy, Connor changes Eilish’s catchy chorus to, “Now I’m the Dad type / Slightly out of breath type / Gained a couple pounds type / Eat over the sink type… I’m the Dad Guy.” His version of the song is both hilarious and relatable to those juggling dad duties and household chores.
