Photographer Endures Icy Temperatures to Photograph Beautiful Arctic Animals

Photographer Konsta Punkka was just a teenager when he transformed his passion into a full-time career. Inspired by the stunning wildlife surrounding him in Finland, he's even befriended families of foxes. While his work often takes him further afield, the attraction of northern Europe and its animals remains. This shines through in his images of wildlife as they settle in for winter.

AI Used to Help Families Forge “New Moments” With Lost Loved Ones

Photographer and lawyer Alper Yesiltas has been an early adopter of AI, using the technology to see how he can manipulate existing imagery. One of his series, As If Nothing Happened, generated images of deceased celebrities to see how they would have aged if they were still alive. After the success of his work, Yesiltas began thinking about how he could use his skills to help others. And that is where New Moments blossomed.

400-Megapixel Photo of the Sun Made From 100,000 Photos

Astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy has outdone himself with his 400-megapixel image of the Sun. Comprised of over 100,000 individual photos, it's McCarthy's highest-resolution photo of this celestial body. It only took McCarthy 30 minutes to capture the individual shots after shooting 80 frames per second.  From there, it was all about processing the frames to put together the 40-panel mosaic that makes up the final shot.

Gorgeous Nature Photography From the 2023 Canadian Photos of the Year Contest

One of Canada's oldest and most beloved magazines, Canadian Geographic, is celebrating the country's talented photographers with its Canadian Photos of the Year competition. The 2023 contest saw over 8,000 entries, with 12 being singled out for their originality, technical skill, and visual impact. In addition, Brandon Broderick has been named Canadian Photographer of the Year for his strong portfolio of work.
