Smithsonian Magazine Announces Winners of Its 19th Annual Photo Contest

A look at how we stayed connected during the pandemic took home the top prize at the 19th annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest. Sinsee Ho's timely photo beat out the 59 other finalist images, which were culled from over 47,000 entries. Aside from the grand prize, winners were named in six categories, as well as a Readers' Choice award. Ho's winning image was taken in Malaysia during the 2021 Chinese Lunar New Year.

Winners of Wildlife Photography Competition Show the Power of Water

The WildArt Photographer of the Year competition—a contest created by wildlife photographers for wildlife photographers—has announced the winners of its first monthly contest of 2022. For the WET Competition, photographers were asked to submit their best photos incorporating wildlife and water. It's a concept that Canadian wildlife photographer Gail Bisson proposed and the results are astounding. Snow, ice, rain, and rivers are prominent throughout the winning and highly commended photographs.

Every year, the Sony World Photography Awards highlights the local photography community with the National Awards. Selected from the Open Competition, these awards are a wonderful opportunity to see the skills of photographers whether they consider themselves amateurs, professionals, or hobbyists. For the 2022 edition, 61 countries are represented in the National Awards with images from a wide variety of categories.
