Huge Mural of a Graffiting Grandma in Montreal

It's been a few years since we wrote about Montreal-based artist collective A'shop but the team is back. One of their latest works was for the MURAL street art festival that recently took place on Saint-Laurent Boulevard, in downtown Montreal. As one of twenty street artists that came from all over the world, A'shop painted one huge side of a building in some eye-popping colors.

Modern Tiananmen Square Street Mural

Using iconic imagery from the Tiananmen Square incident in 1989, A.SignL from the Captain Borderline crew recently completed this mural in Cologne, Germany to protest human rights violations in modern China. The tank is made up of all types of cheap consumer goods “Made in China” and the man standing in its way is holding a bag that says “Fair Trade.” The piece was a collaboration with Amnesty International and Color Revolution.

Hanksy’s Apollo 13 Space Shuttle Spoof

Spoofing one of Banksy's most recent pieces, Hanksy hilariously transforms Banky's Biplane (below) into the legendary Apollo 13 Space Shuttle. Spotted on the streets of Chicago, Tom Hanks looks like he's having the time of his life. Just take one look at his hilarious facial expression! As far as street art spoofing goes, Hanksy is definitely making quite a reputation for himself with a string of brilliant pieces.

3D Grass Globe at Paris City Hall

Artist François Abélanet plays tricks on our eyes, making us believe there is a three-dimensional grass globe sitting right in the middle of Paris' City Hall. When viewed at different angles, however, the illusion quickly falls apart. Who to believe? covers 16,000 sq ft (1500 sq m) and measures 330 ft (100 m) long. Approximately 90 gardeners worked for five days to assemble the entire display.
