Exploring the concept of the universe within, dynamic duo Ayla El-Moussa and Lucas Ighile present a striking collection of double exposed GIFs. Deep Discovery is the newest addition to their series of visual philosophies, organized under the company name 25th Century. Deep Discovery dances along the lines of self-awareness, offering fluid combinations between woman and nature that expose our universal similarities at the atomic level. In an email, El-Moussa tells us: “This project started with a simple quote from the great Bruce Lee. ‘Be formless, shapeless, like water.’ From there our project blossomed into something greater than we imagined, a new form of artistic philosophy that we wish to share with the world.”
El-Moussa and Ighile founded 25th Century in 2009 as a means of exhibiting art, though the platform eventually evolved to become a place where they now exclusively present their own photographs, film, and music. Chasing a vision of the future, the pair seek to celebrate moments of self-discovery and human expression within their work. The beauty of their stunning visuals are that despite a unifying theme, they remain open to personal interpretation and connections.
Even lacking a backstory, the animated photographs in Deep Discovery are able to stand powerfully on their own. With a sense of innate magic (think Harry Potter’s world of magical moving portraits), the series presents a splendid examination into the power that we all have within.
