Were it not for the birds perched on the nude model's hand, we may not notice that she was even there. Emma Hack is famous for her incredible body illustrations that seamlessly blend her subjects into backgrounds. The live birds include everything from an owl to a cockatoo. The series, called Birds of a Feather Collection, shows her love for all feathered forms and is a statement that we should nurture the beautiful creatures that surround us. Though this may look like the work of Photoshop, it's actually all done by hand. Emma expertly hand body paints her subjects into their canvas backgrounds. She's mastered this art form over a 22 year career.
Each piece can take the Australian artist between 8 to 15 hours to complete. “You never know what to expect working with birds and animals,” she told The Daily Mail. “The owl is very cute, but also very naughty and it is hard getting him to look at me. We tend to throw things on the ground or play phone sounds to make noise to get his attention. It's very hard for the model to hold a straight face while this is happening and quite often they get the giggles.”
Doesn't her art remind you of Liu Bolin's?
