After given the amazing opportunity to paint segments of the Berlin Wall in Los Angeles, artistic duo Herakut exhibited their unique style of painting in a pop-up show in Germany. Herakut consists of Akut, who is from a small city in what used to be East Germany, and Hera, who is from Frankfurt. Together, they work to create art that is fresh and urban – reminiscent of graffiti. In fact, they explain their technique by saying, “One of us starts a piece and leaves it alone when he feels like it. Then, the other one takes a look and thinks, I know what's next, and just goes ahead with it. But basically it's the old graffiti thing: If your stuff gets crossed out – you paint a new one.”
Herakut's work is inspired by music and poetry. The duo shows that a perfect combination of two great artists with great chemistry can create beautiful work. They describe Herakut as “Hera and Akut speaking at the same time, telling you completely different stories or the very same story just in their very own words.” Check out more pictures from the pop-up show as well as the collaborative video, below.
