Traditionally, mattresses have been bought from showrooms with the help of salesmen. However, in the last few years online mattresses have been gaining traction and changing the way we furnish our homes. The Internet has transformed lifestyles and the way we view the world. Here at My Modern Met, whenever we come across revolutionary products that change the way we live, we are excited to share these trends.
After a recent move, my wife and I started looking for a new mattress. Just like the process for any other big purchase, our first steps involved researching and reading online reviews. I found several foam mattresses that were highly rated, which ultimately led to my decision to buy one online. I became convinced that the new technology in foam mattresses had advanced to a level of reliability, where buying it online was a viable option. At this stage of our purchasing journey, we made the well-researched decision to go with a Leesa mattress.
So, why did we choose Leesa? Well, from the majority of the reviews we read online, Leesa's mattresses ranked highest as a beautifully designed product with the greatest overall value and, most importantly, reviewers found it to be the most comfortable mattress on the market.
Leesa's mattresses have a 3-layer foam technology–the bottom layer is 6 inches of high density poly foam, the middle layer is 2 inches of medium density memory foam, and the top layer is 2 inches of Leesa's trademarked and patented Avena foam. Shaped like an inverted egg crate, Avena Foam is a new technology that has high “ILD” (Indentation Load Deflection), which allows for constant airflow throughout the night, so the mattress sleeps cool.
Even after reading about all of the wonderful design attributes and confirmations of comfort, we experienced a bit of hesitancy in buying a mattress online. This moment of trepidation was quickly quashed after reviewing Leesa's return policy–it greatly alleviated our concerns. They offer a 100-day risk-free, no-hassle trial period. At the end of the trial period, if you're not happy with your mattress, for whatever reason, they'll find you a charity that will take the mattress off your hands and donate it so it won't be wasted. Also, Leesa donates 1 mattress to charity for every 10 sold, and all of its mattresses are American-made and come with a 10-year warranty.
It was settled–we were getting a Leesa mattress! Delivery only took about a week, and our new mattress arrived. It was impressive how they got the Cal King mattress condensed into such a seemingly small rectangle box. This made transporting the mattress to our new bedroom really easy.
After opening the box and placing our new Leesa on the bed frame, we let the mattress air out and expand. The first thing we noticed was the beautiful design and look of the top cover. It is one piece of quality polyester-lycra blend fabric completely woven together to create seamless corners and edges. Its four-bar design is simple and clean, and the fabric is soft and velvety to touch and lay on. It almost feels like a waste covering the mattress with bed sheets!
After letting it air out and expand for an hour, it was time to test out our new mattress. We jumped on and found the Avena foam technology lived up to its promises. It had the right balance of softness and firmness to meet both our needs, and after many nights of peaceful sleeping on our Leesa, we believe the way the Avena foam contours to your body (yet has enough firmness to not let you sink too deep) is the key advantage. Avena foam is similar to latex in terms of feel, but is more durable. Also, it's hypo-allergenic.
All in all, we are very happy with our purchase with Leesa. From the ease of purchase on its website, to the delivery of an unassuming rectangle box, to the simplicity of carrying and placing the mattress out of the box and onto the bed frame, and then to watching the mattress come to life and expand, Leesa has made the whole experience simple and comforting for us.
