This flower petal art is a beautifully unexpected series in which watercolors and flower petals are blended together into one elegant composition. Created by Singapore-based Malaysian artist Lim Zhi Wei, aka @lovelimzy, the series is a delicate collection of graceful female forms donning gorgeously layered dresses and gowns made out of everything from orchids, roses, hydrangeas, and carnations to wilted chrysanthemum leaves.
The extravagant floral arrangements draw the viewer's eye in while vibrantly colored flowers and textures pop out against the stark white backgrounds. The watercolor shapes and forms require minimal detail to convey the presence of bodies, faces, and flowing hair.
The series began when the artist made a birthday gift for her grandmother. “I pressed some rose petals and made her a bookmark with a painted girl wearing a petal dress,” explained Wei. “That's how the floral works started.”
