Illustrators often draw inspiration from their own lives. From overheard conversations to intimate moments, many real-life encounters unexpectedly double as artistic muses. This approach is intrinsic to the work of Nathalie Jomard, an artist who comically chronicles the ups, downs, and day-to-day realities of motherhood.

In each colorful drawing, Jomard offers an honest glimpse into life as a young mom. Though most of her illustrations capture the difficult demands of a new baby and the chaos of having school-aged kids, Jomard also includes the not-so-glamorous part of expecting. “Hemorrhoids and Strech Marks,” a book cover reads, “the Keys to a Dignified Pregnancy.”

In addition to changing bodies, busy schedules, and sleep deprivation, Jomard also explores the bright side of being a mom. As an expectant woman lovingly gazes at a tiny pair of pajamas and a doting mother covers her baby in kisses, Jomard reminds viewers of the other “honest” side of motherhood.

If you'd like to see more of Jomard's hilariously relatable illustrations, you can find a selection of her books on Amazon.
