Embroidered Patterns Overlayed on Images by Melissa Zexter

A new show starting today, May 29, and running till August 15, brings to light a growing trend, mixing photographs with embroidery. The Embroidered Image at Robert Mann Gallery in New York brings together the work of multiple artists, like Matthew Cox, Diane Meyer, Jessica Wohl, and Melissa Zexter, to show how the needle and thread can transform photographs into a whole new art form.

Beautiful Black and White Photos of a Sideways Japanese Tree by Michael Kenna

For the last 20 years, photographer Michael Kenna has been using a manually operated Hasselblad camera to capture beautiful black and white photos of landscapes. He photographs mostly at dawn or at night, so he can take in the ethereal natural light, and his exposures can last up to 10 hours. He doesn't edit his images digitally, rather, he prefers the more traditional darkroom process.

The largest living plant sculpture exhibition ever displayed in the United States has just begun! From now till October 31, visit Atlanta Botanical Garden to see Imaginary Worlds, a New Kingdom of Plant Giants. 28 living sculptures are scattered throughout the garden including nine never-before-seen characters.
