How a Mountain Climber Ended Up Creating Viral Images of the 2017 Solar Eclipse

Photographers Ted Hesser and Andrew Studer, along with climbers Martina Tibell and Tommy Smith, worked together to create some of the most memorable images of the 2017 total solar eclipse. Working with precision, and under great time constraints, they managed to capture a breathtaking image of Smith's silhouette standing on Smith Rock in Oregon as totality took place just behind him.

New Laser-Cut Wood Sculptures Embedded with Intricate Swirling Designs

Artist Gabriel Schama and his trusty laser cutter, which he’s named Elsie, continue to produce incredible relief sculptures that are as intricate as they are stunning. Working in thin layers of plywood, the 3D designs include geometric shapes and flourishes in different tones that work in harmony to depict the decorative scenes. Inspired by the human figure, architecture, and swirling mandalas, these large-scale pieces hypnotically fuse the worlds of illustration and graphic design with sculpture.

Company Creates Line of Eco-Friendly Prefab Homes That Start at Under $100K

North Carolina-based builders Deltec have designed a series of prefabricated homes with sustainability in mind. Their Renew Collection features nine different models that are net-zero energy, meaning the amount of energy these homes use is roughly equal to the amount of renewable they energy produce. In addition to being eco-friendly, Deltec's homes are also affordable, with kits starting at under $100,000.
