Self-taught Russian photographer Dina Belenko creates captivating scenes that magically bring life to everyday objects. Using creative arrangements, skillful photography and lighting, and surprisingly little photo manipulation–Belenko successfully brings movement and emotion to each of her imaginative photo illustrations.
According to the photographer, “Every object contains a kind of ‘folded story' inside it. Things can tell what they saw, who held them, who accidentally broke them, and who lovingly gathered up the pieces and repaired them. In every single thing there is a sense of human presence.” She compares capturing the soul of an object to that of taking a human portrait–a feat that doesn't come easily as we can see in this tutorial she created for 500px.
Today, we're excited to announce that we have 12 of the artist's inspiring works available in our online store–My Modern Shop. You can also see more of Belenko's work in a year-long art project titled An Endless Book. The project is an exercise of creativity that includes weekly submissions of illustrations based on a topic of the participant's liking. You can look forward to seeing each submission come together in one long panoramic at the end of the year, or visit the group's Flickr page to see the progression of the project in real time.
