The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York is one of the world’s most renowned cultural institutions. The Met boasts a collection of more than 1.5 million art objects and artifacts, ranging from jewelry and textiles to paintings and sculpture. Over the years, the Met has uploaded photographs pulled from this iconic collection to its online database, and now over 492,000 high-resolution images can be browsed and downloaded for free.

Jaume Plensa’s Giant Mesh Steel Sculptures Hauntingly Request Silence in Historic Gothic Building

Spanish artist Jaume Plensa has brought his monumental sculptures inside one of Palma de Mallorca's most historic buildings. The 15th-century La Llotja is now home to Plensa's Mirall (meaning “mirror” in Catalan), an exhibition that reflects on the dualities of the world. In it, two 23-foot-tall stainless steel sculptures have been erected under its vaulted ceiling, blending the contemporary with this fine example of Catalan Gothic architecture.

20,000 Hand-Painted Tiles Form World’s Largest Hangeul Wall

Renowned artist Ik-Joong Kang has created the world's largest Hangeul Wall as a way to connect the thoughts and experiences of people around the world. Made from 20,000 hand-painted tiles, the immense installation is on view at the Korean Cultural Center New York (KCCNY). The piece was created in conjunction with a 40-year retrospective exhibition, We Are Connected.
