When designers discuss what inspired them to create their pieces, it sometimes seems as though the original form has been so abstracted that it's barely recognizable anymore. However, take one look at Canadian design firm UUfie's new, aptly-named Peacock chair and there is no mystery behind the piece of furniture's muse.
Constructed out of a single sheet of acrylic, the design features a beautifully elegant back rest that fans out much like its namesake bird's plumage. Its simple, open pattern also casts a stunning shadow over the floor, adding a dramatic effect to the chair's overall visual appeal. What is most striking about this design, though, is how completely imposing yet simultaneously delicate it appears, almost like a throne made of lace. Despite its delicate appearance, the material has been thermoformed, making it completely structurally sound.
At the moment, the Peacock chair comes in a multitude of colors and three different sizes, including a limited edition large size and even a children's size. They are currently being displayed at Spazio Rossana Orlandi in Milan, Italy.
