Living the nomadic life and roaming around with all your worldly possessions may seem like a pipe dream to some, but with more and more tiny, mobile homes cropping up, perhaps this freedom can become a reality? The Moon Dragon—a tiny home on wheels—is the perfect example of this. It aims to make the minimalist lifestyle easily achievable with its comfortable and cozy design. Built by Abel Zimmerman Zyl of Zyl Vardos, the charming little lodge opens up to reveal an adorable accommodation alternative.
The fairy tale-like home—which measures 13.1 feet in height, 9 feet in length, and 24 feet in width—can easily be pulled with a one-ton pickup truck, making it a mobile dream come true. In addition to its mobility, the tiny house features wonderfully whimsical style. Walk through its Dutch-style doors and you'll find a bright, inviting space framed by arching ceilings and mahogany details. The home comes complete with a wood stove, energy-efficient fridge and washing machine, plenty of hidden storage, and even a composting toilet. Best of all: at the top of the cabin is an airy loft bedroom that can fit a queen-sized bed while still leaving plenty of room for activities.
Textured shingles line the exterior roof, completing its pleasant aesthetic; many of the small details that make the trailer so homely were in fact built by hand by Zyl Vardos, in order to create a unique final product. In addition to its design-conscious elements, the magical hobbit-home also comes with a solar kit option for self-sufficient power, affording the owner the opportunity to live off-grid. The tiny home, estimated to retail for $96,000, gives owners the freedom to get up and go, without sacrificing on space, style, or dependence on remote infrastructure, such as an electrical grid.
