After beating out over 1,600 works to take home the grand prize at last year's ArtPrize competition, Adonna Khare is back with a brand new selection of works. From now till July 20, come to the Lora Schlesinger Gallery in Santa Monica to see the exciting exhibition, titled In the Clouds, where the Glendale, California-born artist shows off new, highly detailed drawings of her favorite subject, animals.
As the gallery states, “Adonna Khare's new drawings are whimsical, meticulous, solemn, playful, and humorous. Filled with an array of complex narratives, Khare's drawings make it easy to abandon the world around you and delve into her mystifying world of Bears, Antelopes, Chimp, Bunnies and Butterflies. Backgrounds filled with tornadoes, whirlpools, waterfalls and storm clouds represent life's unpredictability, ever-evolving change, and the unknown. All of Khare's animals caught in the foreground of a storm brewing behind them, a storm of change and uncertainty; once it arrives you don't know whether there will be severe damage or you'll come out unscathed and better off.”
A video was just released that gives you a great behind-the-scenes look at the artist's life. Love how there's so much personal meaning to each of her pieces (and also love her adorable “life models.”)
