Mother Creates Baby’s Adorable Blackboard Adventures

Like lots of mothers, Anna Eftimie wanted to introduce the birth of her son in a unique and creative way. For Anna and her husband, this was their second child, and since both grandparents and most of their friends live in Europe, they knew that photography would be the best way to do it.

Anna started looking for inspiring photo ideas but none of them felt quite right. One day, her husband came up with the idea of drawing a stork on blackboard using real chalk. They did it and their friends and family loved that photo so much that they were encouraged to create others. As she tell us, “We used everything around us for inspiration, even our daughter's skateboard, or the Alcatraz costumes you can buy from San Francisco's Pier 39. Soon we had a whole story wrapped around our sleeping baby boy. Our son was five days old in the stork picture and three months in the one with the underwater wedding.”

As Anna is a photographer by trade, she began offering this idea up to her clients. If you're curious, she never places babies directly on the cold, hard blackboard surface. Instead, babies are always placed on something soft, like pillows, and then Anna uses “digital artistry” to create her final photos.
