The word “recycle” can be interpreted in many different ways. For designer Garth Britzman, recycling means creatively repurposing a used material. The resourceful Nebraskan makes great use of plastic bottles by stringing them up together to serve as a canopy. Adding his decorative touch, Britzman's eco-friendly architectural project labeled as (POP)culture incorporates an excellent color palette of blues, greens, and yellows for a refreshing spring and summer look. Without having to manipulate the original shape of the bottles, a pattern of five-petaled flowers are created by filling a limited pool of liquid in each container. The result is a multihued and grooved sculptural work hanging over a shaded parking spot.
