Throughout the five years that we've been running My Modern Met, we've seen our fair share of projection mapping, or where artists use specialized software to create the optical illusion that a building, or other surface, is moving. I've been able to see this, in-person, a few times, but nothing could prepare me for Sydney's awe-inspiring version. Called Collaboration #3, it is just one of 60 amazing installations on Vivid Sydney's Light Walk.
You can't help but stand in complete awe as you watch the side of the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCAA) get washed over with bursting colors and fluid movement. (And it's all set to music!) Australian artist Gemma Smith worked with audio-visual company, Spinifex Group, to create a visual and auditory 8-minute feast for the eyes and ears. Below are a few shots we were able to take of the installation. To really give it justice, make sure to watch the short videos we shot, below, as well.
Collaboration #3 runs from now till June 10 from 6p to midnight.
