Located in the Black Hills of South Dakota is a place perfect for any fan of Middle Earth. Nicknamed the Hobbit treehouse, this elevated rental property is owned by Gordon Mack, a man who was inspired by the beloved Lord of the Rings films. Perched 16 feet above the ground, the structure has rounded doors and windows, with an interior space that'll make Tolkien devotees swoon, by including details like: Elvish-language signs; a mask worn by Sauron; and a gauntlet with the gold ring. There are even Hobbit-feet slippers that are specially tailored for all age groups.
To stay in this whimsical locale, you must book the country house that it's attached to. It's called the Chateau De Soleil, and the four-bedroom building can accommodate up to 16 people at a time. This makes it ideal for a large family, and the treehouse complements the getaway as a fun and special place for kids to stay.
