Oversized Gun Sculpture Formed with Thousands of Cheese Puffs

Artist Sharareh Khosravani sure knows how to make a bang. The Ohio-based creative crafted a larger-than-life sculpture that's shaped like a revolver. But instead of being made from the usual metal material, this gun is comprised of the delicious junk food known as cheese puffs. Khosravani titled her impressive project Warning.

The eye-catching, bright-orange revolver is made up of thousands of tiny puffed-corn pieces that rest on a gallery floor. It's a symbol with strong connotations, and Khosravani states, “The gun ties into the theme of violence but by covering it in actual cheese puffs, I hoped to add a dimension of humor to the warning.”

The artist wants us to feel at ease in this object's presence, because after all, they're only cheese puffs. However, she doesn't want us to forget about the toll that guns can take. Khosravani goes on to explain, “In part, this work came about because of events such as the Boston Marathon bombing and recent school shootings that made me think about the way violence affects children today.”
