When photographer Wes Eisenhauer (aka SoulcrateSucka) posted these paired images on Reddit with the comment, “My life changed over the weekend,” other wisecracking users began to posit the obvious difference between the scenes. Is it the wrinkles in the sheets? The iPhone on the bedside table? Oh, right–what he was referencing, of course, was his wife's newborn baby.
Remarkably, the side-by-side shots are more or less identical. The woman wears the same outfit and lies in a similar curled position, though now with her infant next to her, right where her protruding pregnant belly used to be. Commenters playfully applauded the mom and dad for managing to make the bed twice, while others pleaded for details about the unique headboard. All jokes and distractions aside, however, the photographer's clever captures convey a poignant truth about parenthood: having kids changes everything, and yet, nothing at all.
