Artist Travis Durden (a pseudonym to preserve his real identity) excels at combining classic Greek sculptures with modern-day pop culture. To succeed at this endeavor, the artist first visited Paris's Louvre Museum and took pictures of the featured statues. Using digital technology, he then collaborated with a 3D modeler to redesign the statues' heads so they look like iconic Star Wars characters.
Durden lastly worked with a retoucher to make the faces seamlessly fit on these timeless figures. This involved creating a texture that's akin to faux marble. Once the artist's technological process was complete, one could easily believe that subjects such as Darth Vader and Yoda were carved out of marble long ago.
To view these integrative works in person, you can visit the Contre Attaque (or Counter Attack) exhibit at Paris's Galerie Sakura. Prints are also available on the gallery's website.
