Artist Uses Her Own Body as a Canvas for Her Detailed Architecture Sketches

Architecture Drawings by Mariela Luis aka MarielART

Many of us have scribbled a note or two on our hand when there’s no paper in reach. However, Spanish artist Mariela Luis (of MarielART) does more than just scribble. She uses her hands, arms, and even her legs as her canvases for her incredible architecture drawings. From Westminster Abbey in London to St. Patrick‘s Cathedral in New York, each historical landmark is sketched onto her skin in pen ink.

Luis’ drawings are already admirable on paper, but when drawn onto her own skin, they look like beautiful architecture tattoos. Often using ballpoint pens or a simple BIC, each piece is rendered in the artist’s distinct style, complete with scribbly line work and perfect perspective. Impressively, most of Luis’ sketches take no more than 10 minutes, but she’s still able to achieve plenty of detail. Towers, windows, ornate roofs, and elaborate facades are captured in ink, showcasing the beauty of the world’s most famous buildings.
