Illustrator J. Shari Ewing imagines that Baby Yoda loves to snack on junk food as much as you do. In her series of adorable portraits, The Child enjoys delicacies such as a slice of pizza from his hovercraft stroller, and he finds his happy place with a Mickey Mouse-shaped beignet. Ewing also reminds us that Baby Yoda is just a youngster who, like many kids, plays with his food; he uses a churro like you would a lightsaber. But unlike many children, Baby Yoda can use The Force to his advantage—especially when it helps him to snarf down a tasty pickle.

Ewing started the series shortly after the show The Mandalorian was released, which is where Baby Yoda makes his unforgettable debut and has captivated the internet ever since. Like The Child, Ewing enjoys making people happy. “One of the goals for my art has always been to spread joy to others,” she tells My Modern Met. “So when I created the first piece of ‘Baby Yoda’ eating pizza in his pod bassinet it was purely to share the joy that the character inspired in me while enjoying one of my favorite foods.”

Ewing’s initial artwork captured the hearts of her followers. “After it was posted, one of my followers asked me to draw him with one of her favorite foods (Mickey Mouse ice cream bar) and from there I decided to draw him with not only my favorite Disney Park foods but also the favorite foods requested by people in the comments.” The series has since expanded beyond her own beloved eats, and the possibilities for what Baby Yoda will nom next is limitless. “Just to spice it up, he is going to enjoy some more savory foods,” Ewing reveals, “while also experiencing some of his 2020 resolutions.”
