Although it's been 38 years since the release of the first Back to the Future movie, the trilogy feels ever-present in pop culture. Fans of the iconic films have seen actors Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd reunite at New York Comic Con last fall and tease a potential new BTTF project via Twitter, and it seems like the stars have no intention of missing any potential meet-ups. Just recently, the cast of BTTF was photographed at the Fan Expo Portland convention with smiles all around.
Posted to Instagram by Fox and his co-star Lea Thompson, these heartwarming pictures show the core cast nearly four decades after they rose to superstardom. “Wow honestly had the best time today with my #bttf family,” Thompson wrote. She posed with Fox, Lloyd, and Thomas F. Wilson (who played Biff Tannen) in a series of group shots. “I love being at these FanExpo events and seeing some of my favorite people like Lea, Tom, Chris, and all of you #bttf heads. Heavy,” Fox said in an Instagram story. (“Heavy” is a reference to his character Marty McFly, who used the word to describe things that astonished him.)
Thompson's carousel of photos also included a couple of videos with her beloved costars. “My favorite favorite guy ever,” she said to Wilson in the video. He gave her a hug and then got into character, saying, “Hello, anybody home? Huh? Think Lea, think.” Lloyd also shared a group portrait on his Instagram, captioning it, “Found the flux capacitor. Brought us all back to 2023 just in time for @fanexpoportland.” All in all, it seemed like a memorable event for the stars, and hopefully, it marks the return of this beloved series in another project very soon, though there is no word yet.
