New Study Finds That Cats Know When Their Owners Are Using Their “Cat Voice”

There are many misconceptions about cats, but new studies are proving that they form closer bonds with humans than previously thought. Recently, research conducted at Paris Nanterre University's Laboratory of Compared Ethology and Cognition showed that owners change their voice when addressing their felines, usually altering it to a higher pitch. Not only that, but they also found that cats are able to recognize their owner's “cat voice” versus that of a complete stranger.

Baby Elephant Thanks Little Girl After She Helps It Get Unstuck From the Mud [Video]

With only about 415,000 elephants left in Africa and and 40,000 in Asia, this species ranges from the vulnerable to the endangered, which means they need all the help they can get from us. While some communities have come together to support elephants, once in a while some of these creatures need immediate assistance. This was the case for a baby elephant who got stuck in the mud on the side of a road.

A witch riding on a broomstick is one iconic image that comes to mind, and an owl in Eureka, Illinois, did its best to recreate this type of spine-chilling scene. The great horned owl was captured on camera flying through the sky carrying a child’s toy broomstick—not unlike the witches in Halloween tales.
