Anish Kapoor Unveils New “Mini Bean” Sculpture in New York City

Nearly 20 years after the debut of  Cloud Gate, colloquially referred to as “The Bean,” in Chicago, British-Indian sculptor Anish Kapoor has unveiled its twin in New York City. The new reflective sculpture is smaller than its predecessor, and tucked into a corner of the Tribeca neighborhood of Manhattan, underneath a condo called Jenga.

Artist Makes Massive Sand Drawings That Will Eventually Be Swallowed by the Tide

For land artists, the Earth becomes a giant canvas for their incredible imagery. The French creative known as JBen uses his location on the coast of Royan as a place to produce his massive beach art. His ephemeral designs are intricate—especially considering their scale—and feature a variety of subjects. Sometimes, he carves swirls in the sand while other times the drawings are character-driven and feature the likes of Sonic the Hedgehog.

300 Demonstrators Recreate the Hair of Iranian Teenager Nika Shahkarami

French street artist JR is known for creating photorealistic installations around the globe, oftentimes using his art as a means of spreading awareness for important social-political causes. His latest project took place at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms State Park in New York City, where he organized 300 volunteers to recreate the black hair of Iranian teenager Nika Shahkarami.

Real Dried Flowers Dangle From Ceilings in Immersive Botanical Installations

British artist Rebecca Louise Law creates immersive installations using real dried flowers. Dangling from the ceiling like a natural curtain, the flora invites the viewer to interact with the space in a new way. As they move through the strands of delicate petals and pods, there is the opportunity to look at and really study what has fascinated humans throughout time. One of Law’s latest exhibitions has recently opened at the Honolulu Museum of Art.
