Young Opera Student in Audience Joins ‘La Traviata’ Encore Performance By Singing Tenor Part

Big breaks can happen at any time—even during a live performance. Chinese opera student Liu Jianwei was attending Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata at the Teatro Regio di Parma in Parma, Italy to listen to his favorite soprano, Cuban American opera singer Lisette Oropesa perform. After the concert, he was presented with an opportunity to join the star in an impromptu duet, unbeknownst to everyone (including himself and Oropesa).

10-Year-Old Girl Survives 18 Hours in a Blizzard Thanks to the Warmth of a Stray Dog

When a 10-year-old girl went missing during a snowstorm, people feared the worst. But miraculously, the girl was found alive after surviving 18 hours overnight in a freezing blizzard in Russia. The only way she made it through the night was with the help of a furry friend—a stray dog. The girl (who was not named by authorities) went missing from school in Uglegorsk, Russia, and was essentially trapped during the icy snowstorm.

Maya Angelou has made history once again. The legendary poet and activist received three Grammys, wrote 36 books, and even received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. She passed away at 86 in 2014, leaving a nation to mourn one of the century's greatest voices. Now, posthumously, Angelou is breaking another boundary.
