Heartwarming Portraits Show Different Types of Dads Spending Time With Their Kids

Family Photography by Giedre Gomes

All dads have their own style of raising their kids. Whether it’s silly, strict, playful, empathetic, or a combination of them all, candid family photography captures these one-of-a-kind dynamics. And in celebration of Father’s Day 2018, photographer Giedre Gomes recently released a project honoring the “great dads that are involved in their children’s lives.” With the help of her husband, friends, and neighbors, she snapped heartwarming portraits featuring a variety of fathers that each have their own approach to being with their kids.

The lighthearted images show dads having fun alongside their offspring. Whether it’s indoors playing dress up or outdoors shooting hoops, both grown-ups and kids enjoy the quality time. Sometimes, this is lovingly at the expense of the fathers who, in a couple of shots, are seen rocking full makeovers and princess crowns. But wiping off eyeshadow is just a small price to pay for the utter joy it brings their children.

Gomes had the idea for the project once she became a mother. “I watch my husband, my friends’ husbands [and] see how they interact with their children,” she writes. “I catch myself comparing them with my own father. It’s funny how different they all are but in the end, they love their children unconditionally.”

Giedre Gomes captures candid family photography focusing on fathers spending quality time with their kids.
