If you're like many animal lovers who have the urge to pet all of the cute dogs you encounter, you’ll enjoy the social media accounts of an 11-year-old boy called Gideon. For the past 3 years, he’s been documenting the various dogs he meets in a heartwarming blog called I’ve Pet That Dog.

As of writing, Gideon has over 300,000 Twitter followers and almost 50,000 Instagram fans—and it’s clear to see why. His daily photo posts show him happily petting the adorable dogs he meets each day, along with their name and a description of their personalities. From Bailey (the loyal Australian Shepherd) to Betsy (the playful English Bulldog puppy), Gideon reveals the gorgeous variety of pups who live in his hometown and beyond.

Part of Gideon’s mission is to help adoptable dogs find their forever homes. In one particular tweet he introduces Romeo, a 7-year-old Shih Tzu. “He was a stray. When he was found, his hair was all matted and dirty,” he says. “Romeo can sit and comes when you call his name. He likes to play fetch and tug-o-war. He loves to be pet.”

Although it’s tempting to excitedly pet every dog, Gideon always makes sure to ask permission from the owner first. “We drive around in a car and then when we see a dog we park. Then we get out and say, ‘Can I pet your dog?’ Well, that’s what I say. And sometimes they are like, ‘What??,’ ” explains Gideon. “I have to admit, it’s kind of weird for a kid to just come up and say, ‘Can I get your dog on my website?’ ” Weird or not, we’re huge fans of his ongoing series!
