An incredible chain reaction occurred when Angels Among Us Pet Rescue posted a photo that showed two dogs embracing. The overwhelmed organization was using their social media presence to save the canine companions before they were euthanized. “I'm Kala. This is Keira. We're so scared in here,” read the image's caption. “The people working in the shelters see how scared we are but just told each other that today is our deadline. We have to have someone rescue us or we'll be ‘next.'”
After the heartbreaking photo was posted online, it quickly went viral and demonstrated the amazing power of the internet. Exactly 2 hours and 6 minutes later, the dogs were rescued and their lives were saved. In this short amount of time, a community of animal lovers banded together to find this adorable duo a foster home. They even secured enough funding so that the hugging pups could receive veterinary care.
Although they haven't been adopted yet, Kala and Keira are safe and they are together. Most importantly, they've proven that even something as simple as a hug can make a remarkable difference.
