Curiously Surreal Portraits of People with Tree Heads

Tree People is a surreal portrait series by Serbia-based photographer Marko Prelic that gives an imaginative, new perspective on people and trees. Set against a variety of backdrops–some expansive and natural landscapes, others urban architecture–the collection of peculiar images feature unusual figures with branches and leaves sprouting out where their heads would typically sit.

These towering “tree people” are composed in ordinary positions, going about their days like any individual, each exuding their own personal style. There's a great, whimsical sense of personality throughout the creative series that draws a connection between people and nature. It is as fun and bizarre as it is insightful, offering a human look at voiceless trees.
