Architects Modernize Traditional Courtyard with Above-Ground Moat and Rooftop Gardens

Above-ground swimming pools have been the latest hot trend, and this one by Guz Architects knocks it out of the park! The architectural design mimics an age-old method of security with a modern twist. It almost looks like a modern moat, perfectly designed to house small sharks.

Located in Singapore, the Tangga House is a contemporary interpretation of a traditional courtyard house, with a staircase and entry area forming the focal point of the project. The L-shaped plan allows for natural ventilation, while offering magnificent views of the open space. Other amenities include a large roof above the courtyard leading to the swimming pool, which wraps around two sides of the house. Additionally, exuberantly planted roof gardens surround the house, seamlessly weaving hints of nature both inside and just outside of the residence.
