Artist Transforms Obsolete Devices into Autonomous Drawing Machines

As part of her MA work at the Design Academy Eindhoven, artist and graphic designer Echo Yang created a fascinating series entitled Autonomous Machines that transforms analog devices into autonomous drawing machines. The objects, ranging from a tin chicken toy to a windup alarm clock to an old Walkman, are all obsolete now in the age of ever-advancing technology and digitalization, but Yang breathes new life into them by using them to create self-generated art.

Adorable Photo Booth Images of Rescued Pit Bulls

St. Louis, Missouri-based photographer Lynn Terry captured these priceless moments when she placed two pit bulls, Willis and Bumper, in a photo booth together. According to Terry, “They got right on set and started licking each other. I could instantly relate it to new lovers who stepped into the privacy of a photo booth and locked lips.” The owner of both pups confirms that this affection between them wasn't just for the camera.

Powerful Inmate Portraits Paired with Letters to Younger Self

When photographer Trent Bell discovered that his friend–educated, employed, married, and a father of four–was sentenced to thirty-six years in prison, he was extremely distraught and, haunted by this terrible reality, he was inspired to create this powerful photo series entitled Reflect: Convicts' letters to their younger selves. The captivating portraits offer a rare glimpse into the minds of convicts who will spend much of their adult lives behind bars.

Spectacular Time-Lapse GIFs of Flowers Blooming

These breathtaking gifs of different species of blooming flowers are from a time-lapse video shot by Japanese artist Yutaka Kitamura. Entitled Touched by Strangers, the flowering gifs, whose original video is part of a performance art collaboration with Alexander Reeder, is taken and separated from its film format to highlight the profound beauty of a brief moment.
