Brazil Is Home to Prehistoric Underground Tunnels Created by Giant Ground Sloths

While you may have heard of underground cities built by humans, what about huge tunnels dug by giant prehistoric sloths? Though it may sound outlandish, it's actually what one finds across southern Brazil. Known as paleoburrows, these enormous tunnels can measure up to 2,000 feet long and over six feet tall. Shockingly, the existence of these caves was relatively unknown until a Brazilian geologist noticed something while driving down the highway.

Baby Cows Wear Earmuffs in the Winter To Protect Them From Chilling Frostbite

What’s cuter than a cow? A baby cow, of course. But what’s even cuter than a baby cow? A baby cow in earmuffs! Apparently, it’s common for farmers to clothe their calves with specially designed earmuffs to protect their ears from frostbite. The newborn babes are more susceptible to the cold because of their age and size, so they need a little extra help to stay warm in the winter.

Illustrated Cloud Creatures Creep Through Rural Landscapes Like Gigantic Ghosts

Clouds can be pretty gloomy, but these misty creatures by Barcelona-based Vorja Sánchez are particularly ominous. In his ongoing series, Interventions, Sánchez transforms rural landscapes into dream-like terrains that appear to be home to a whole host of ghostly characters. Sánchez begins by taking photos of his nearby countryside. He then uses a fine-line pen with white ink to meticulously hand-draw his wispy characters into the scene.
