Beautiful Portraits Highlight What “Love” Means for People With Down Syndrome

Love knows no bounds, and photographer Hilary Gauld has captured this in a series featuring the relationships of people with Down syndrome. The photo project, titled Love Means, seeks to raise awareness and dispel the misconceptions of those with the genetic disorder. Gauld worked with the Canadian Down Syndrome Society (CDSS) and profiled nine different “love stories” about individuals who either have Down syndrome or are in a relationship with someone who does.

Photographer Explores the Beauty and Decay of Abandoned Churches in Italy

The history of Italy, home to the Vatican, is historically tied to the Catholic church. So it comes as no surprise that there are an estimated 65,000 churches—or chiese—in Italy. But what may surprise you are the vast quantities of churches that have been abandoned and left to decay. Across the country, it's an all-too-common phenomenon and it's something that Dutch photographer Roman Robroek wanted to learn more about.

Photographer Uses 2 Million Photos to Produce GIF Showing Moon’s Movement

Astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy spent a month chasing the Moon in order to create a gif that shows the beauty of its movement. Using over 2 million individual photos, he put together a spectacular look at how it “dances in the sky.” This dance is called libration and it's the result of the Moon's slightly tilted axis and elliptical orbit around Earth.

Japanese Woman and Her Dad Dress in Cosplay as a Creative Way To Spend Time Together

Cosplay is more fun when you have someone dressing up alongside you. A Japanese woman named ofumi has a dedicated cosplay partner—her dad.  The two dress up in costumes that are meant for pairs, and each has perfected their own type of role. Her dad often plays an enforcer and is seen furrowing his brow and snarling while brandishing a sword.
