This Beautiful Forest in the Sky Inspired the “Floating Mountains” in Avatar
Located in China's northern Hunan province, the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is a unique landscape stretching over nearly 12,000 acres. Fittingly, it was named China's first national park in 1982 and is particularly known for the thousands of foliage covered vertical stone columns that rise up into the sky. It's this unique feature that helped inspire the floating Hallelujah Mountains of Pandora in the film Avatar.
