Kintsugi-Inspired Tableware Fuses Broken Dishes With 24-Karat Gold “Glue”

Have you ever accidentally broken your favorite mug or plate, and reluctantly thrown it in the trash? As an alternative to immediately discarding shattered tableware, Japanese artisans actually celebrate their broken pottery and give them new life using a centuries-old technique called Kintsugi. Translated to “golden joinery,” the process involves repairing shattered ceramics with a special gold lacquer that acts as an adhesive to glue the fragments back together.

Colorful Installation Transforms Warehouse Into a Psychedelic Painting

Berlin-based artist Katharina Grosse is renowned for transforming industrial gallery spaces, architecture, and landscapes into otherworldly environments that burst with vibrant color. Rendered in spray-painted fabric, the artist’s latest installation titled The Horse Trotted Another Couple of Metres, Then it Stopped transforms Sydney’s contemporary art center—a giant warehouse called Carriageworks—into a magnificent, immersive kaleidoscope painting. Commissioned by Sydney Festival 2018, Grosse filled the warehouse with nearly 90,000 square feet (8,000 square meters)

360° Aerial Photos of Barcelona Transform the City Into Small Planets

Currently living in Barcelona, Brazilian photographer Bruno Alencastro wanted to capture his experience in Europe by photographing the city from a different perspective. The task wouldn't be easy, considering millions of travelers flock to the city each year to photograph some of the city's most well-loved monuments. Thus, Alencastro took to the sky, creating a set of 360-degree aerial photographs that transform areas of Barcelona into small globes.
