3D Scans of 7,500 Famous Sculptures Available Online to Download and 3D Print

A few weeks ago, the world-renowned British Museum made a 3D model of the Rosetta Stone—one of its most prized and popular artifacts—available online. This fascinating free resource is one of many in a wave of recent digitization projects carried out by museums and other contemporary cultural institutions aiming to make art accessible to all. Before the museum blessed the digital world with its multidimensional masterworks, however, My Mini Factory‘s Scan the World was wowing audiences with its own 3d models of culturally-significant objects.

New Action Figures of Leonardo da Vinci, Vermeer, and Rembrandt Give New Life to Old Masters

In order “to bring art history to the public in innovative ways,” Canadian company Today is Art Day has created a line of art-inspired action figures. Based on real life artists, these adorably and accurately designed dolls include a fun Frida Kahlo figurine and a tiny toy van Gogh. Now, in addition to this pair of modern artists, Today is Art Day has added some older models to the mix with their new Leonardo da Vinci, Vermeer, and Rembrandt action figures.

Interactive Map Shows Where on Earth You’d Be If You Dug Straight Through the Ground

A common childhood exercise involves imagining what country you’d encounter if you dug a straight line to the exact opposite side of the world. Would you go to China? Australia? Or maybe you’d venture to some tiny island you had never heard of. Well, wonder no longer. There’s now an Antipodes Map that will show you where you’d end up if you started digging (and didn’t succumb to the Earth’s fiery core).
