Luminous Glass “Jellyfish” Sculptures Dripping with Sinuous Tentacles

Based in beautiful Tuscany, Italian artist Daniela Forti employs a unique glass-fusion technique to delicately craft luminous works of art. Referred to as “sculpture installations,” each piece showcases the artist's innovative methods and interest in light. While this inventive approach to the age-old process of glass-working is evident in her entire oeuvre, it is most beautifully apparent in her ongoing series of luminous glass jellyfish sculptures.

Hyperrealistic Colored Pencil Drawings Perfectly Recreate Lustrous Blobs of Paint

At first glance, the work of artist Cj Hendry looks like pictures of oil paint photographed on a smooth canvas. But, look again—they’re actually a series of hyperrealism drawings called Complimentary Colors. The Australian artist—a former finance student—has produced the luscious blobs using only colored pencils. Thanks to her expert handling of the medium, she has layered the dry pigment so that it has the sheen and viscosity you’d expect from paint.

Giant Feet Crash Through an Abandoned Building’s Crumbling Ceiling

Interested in exploring “the eternal contradictions of the modern individual as a result of their ambitions and limitations,” Spanish artist Mario Mankey creates art that comments on the human condition. While he mostly works in two dimensions, he has recently opted to experiment with sculpture, as evident in Ego Erectus, a large-scale installation created for Berlin-based project The Haus. A collaborative undertaking, The Haus invited 165 artists to reimagine an abandoned five-story Berlin bank's interior into an ephemeral art exhibition.
