Nature-Inspired Embroidery Designs Capture the Magic of the Rocky Mountains

A post shared by @firesidethreads on

Colorado-based artist Zoe Finn (aka Fireside Threads) stitches nature-inspired embroidery designs that capture the magic of her neighboring Rocky Mountains. Inspired by “earth, her beauties big and small,” each handmade landscape features abstract layers of colorful mountain peaks, stitched to zig-zag across cloud and star-filled textile skies.

Ranging in size and color, some of Finn’s embroidery designs feature specific star constellations. In one particular moonlit scene, a blue-green mountain range sits below Orion, shining high in the sky. In another, the Big Dipper and Little Dipper—part of the Ursa Minor constellation—sit above cream, orange, and blue mountain peaks. Finn describes this piece, saying, “Dreamy, peaceful, and calm, this eight-inch embroidery speaks wonders to the world.” While some finished designs remain within their wooden embroidery hoops, Finn places others inside gold frames of various shapes, including hearts, circles, and squares.

You can find more of Finn’s embroidery mountianscapes on Instagram, and purchase her work on Etsy.
