Birds have an exquisite beauty that is amplified by fine art photography. Hi-tech lenses and macro techniques showcase the incredible details of their brilliant plumage. Photographer Rupa Sutton has captured a dreamy series of parrotlet birds where every blade is visible and awash in pastel pinks, blues, and yellows. The resulting images feel like a scene from a quaint storybook romance, as many of the creatures appear “in love” and gently nuzzle one another against soft, tranquil backdrops.

Crafting a narrative is at the heart of Sutton’s work. “Photography for me is about capturing or creating a moment that tells a story or conveys an emotion,” she explained. “I want to show people the world that exists all around us but that we don’t always see.” As we go about our busy lives, we might miss these type of loving candid interactions, but thanks to Sutton, we get to enjoy a little of what makes the world so special.

Sutton sells her photography of birds as high quality archival prints through her Etsy shop.
