While most artists opt for traditional canvases, Russian painter Feliks Kaparchuk uses old vinyls to render his vivid landscape paintings. His unconventional choice of circular canvas creates the illusion of observing nature through a porthole window. From electric sunsets to sparkling Northern Lights, each awe-inspiring scene captures the magnificent beauty of Mother Nature.

“I love to add vibrant and whimsical colors to each piece which is why I would call my painting style a mix between realism and surrealism,” says Kaparchuk. “I love to use bright colors and focus on the details of each painting that really bring the piece to life and makes each one unique.”

Over the years, Kaparchuk has developed his own paint blending technique that involves using a special mop brush. After he applies thick layers of colorful acrylic paint to the vinyl surfaces, he uses the large soft brush to lightly merge the hues together to create his velvety vibrant skies. For the foreground of his scenes, Kaparchuk adds details with a small pointed brush. From spindly tree branches and craggy mountains to lightening bolts and speckled stars, each stunning piece of vinyl art celebrates the many wonders of our planet.
