Artist Bec Winnel has an undeniable gift. She somehow manages to create depth in the beautiful women she draws. As she states, “I know what it feels like to be intimidated by beautiful women, but now I look at a beautiful woman and admire her beauty for what it is. Her story, what's behind that beauty, that's important. The women I draw have stories in their eyes – sometimes a sadness or a vulnerability, so that's the part I draw first.”
“I've had a lot of respect from male artists, which I find intriguing, as my work is so girly. Actually, a lot of guys say, ‘I want to marry that girl!' I hope that they say that because they have looked into her eyes and seen the beauty within.
Men generally compliment me on my technical skill and the way my works look, while women usually see the feeling I try to put into my pieces. The truth is, I draw for myself. I don't mean to embody ‘beauty' in the form of a woman, it just happens. I hope that my work portrays women as the beautiful creatures that they are.”
