With great diligence and an intense eye for details, artist Benjamin Sack creates dense cityscapes using just a black 0.05 Staedtler pigment liner pen. The fictional urban worlds begin as a few buildings that grow and expand into a heavily populated sheet of paper.
The incredibly complex drawings provide an aerial view of streets, rivers, skyscrapers, and small homes scattered across the land. Viewers will find themselves moving in closer to try and make out all of the very intricate details that are crammed together into bustling cities.
Though the locations are not specific, some of the architectural elements throughout Sack's illustrations are reminiscent of iconic buildings throughout the world. When asked how he creates each work, Sack says, “I can credit patience and a debilitating love for history and architecture.”
