Stunning Moments of Life Under the Sea

Life under the sea is such a mystery to most of us. On the surface of the water, we don't see the magical, awe-inspiring world below. Thankfully, photographer David Doubilet provides us the opportunity to experience these amazing moments of sea life that might otherwise be a mystery.

As a child, Doubilet began snorkeling and figured out ways to photograph in water without ruining his camera. Although these initial photographs did not turn out as well as he had probably hoped, he has since mastered his skills across the years as an underwater photographer. He says his personal challenge is to, “create a visual voice for the world's oceans and to connect people to the incredible beauty and silent devastation happening within the invisible world below.”

Doubilet has explored the depths of seas across the globe. His work has been featured in National Geographic Magazine and he was won countless awards for these spectacular images. Most recently, Doubilet's will have his work displayed this summer on banners suspended from old oak trees at the Look3 Festival of the Photograph in Charlottesville, Virginia.
