Embroidery artist Lauren Spark used colorful cotton thread to faithfully recreate the iconic Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh. The endeavor took her almost 60 hours to complete, but the results are incredible. Spark mimicked the famous artist's thick, choppy brush strokes with the double-ply floss, sewing many different colors next to one another. She explored the original image's ultra-fine details with Google Cultural Institute's high-resolution views, which helped her pay proper homage to the painting's undeniable motion and deep pigments.
Spark's gorgeous interpretation was a present for her mother. What a great gift!
