Sara Barnes is a Staff Editor at My Modern Met, Manager of My Modern Met Store, and co-host of the My Modern Met Top Artist Podcast. As an illustrator and writer living in Seattle, she chronicles illustration, embroidery, and beyond through her blog Brown Paper Bag and Instagram @brwnpaperbag. She wrote a book about embroidery artist Sarah K. Benning titled "Embroidered Life" that was published by Chronicle Books in 2019. Sara is a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art. She earned her BFA in Illustration in 2008 and MFA in Illustration Practice in 2013.

Step Into Hyperreality When You Visit the Immersive Arte Museum Dubai

The Arte Museum Dubai is the first of its kind in the Middle East. Opened in 2024, the institution is centered around immersive exhibitions—something not seen before in the region. The museum features a wide range of digital art experiences across its 30,000 square feet. Its exhibitions reinterpret nature and art through pioneering visuals that use projection mapping, multi-image control, and sensor-based interaction systems to blur the lines between reality, fantasy, and hyperreality.

teamlab’s Ever-Changing, Immersive Artwork Arrives in Abu Dhabi

The Tokyo-based art collective teamLab is bringing Abu Dhabi a new interactive multi-sensory experience. Called teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi, the pioneering art project is set to open its doors in the Saadiyat Cultural District on April 18, 2025. The tailor-made space was brought to life with the help of MZ Architects and is a massive 183,000-square-foot destination filled with exhibits that will engage visitors’ sight, sound, and touch.

Held live on February 27, 2025, the event supported the non-profit organization Project Angel Food, doing incredible good for those in need in the Los Angeles area. At the same time, it brought together world-renowned creatives and uplifted local and emerging artists.
